Page 8 of 10 Mr. Thrifty Principle #7: Wait until right before or right after the event starts
As time gets closer and closer to “kick-off” and you don’t have tickets, move closer to the actual venue. By this time there will not be a lot of people parking their cars and those that do are in a rush to get into the game. At this point you might be able to find a scalper near that stadium entrance who is desperate to unload their tickets.
One year Mr. Thrifty went to the Cotton Bowl in Dallas to see Ricky Williams play his final college football game. The asking price for the tickets outside the stadium was $200 a ticket. However there seemed to be a lot of tickets available. Mr. Thrifty decided to wait and see what would happen. As it got closer and closer to kick-off the price of the tickets started to plummet until someone just gave Mr. Thrifty tickets so they could get inside and watch the kickoff.
