Mr. Thrifty Principle #1: Get your credit report cleaned and ready

Whether you’re applying with a private landlord or an apartment community, having a clean credit report is essential. Landlords want to judge the likelihood that you will pay your rent on time and have sufficient financial resources to handle the rent. In order to do this, they mainly rely on your credit report.  A clean credit report can help you negotiate a better deal.

Mr. Thrifty strongly encourages you to order your credit report to check for errors and ensure that it’s as clean as possible. Also you may be able to save yourself the application fee with some apartment communities by furnishing the landlord with a copy of your own credit report.
