Mr. Thrifty Principle #6: Get apartment rent rebate promises in writing

Note, not all apartment communities will pay locators, so using a locator may limit your choices. But this is a quick way to put a few hundred dollars in your pocket. Just be sure to get the agreement between you and the locator in writing. If they don’t pay you, after you’ve confirmed that your apartment community paid the locator, you can easily take the locator to Small Claims court and win. But having the agreement in writing should be more than enough to dissuade them from not paying you.
