Page 8 of 12 Mr. Thrifty Tip #7: Don’t fill out the “Product Registration” cards
Ever wonder how when you are registering the new Harmon-Kardon speakers that you just bought why they are interested in your hobbies, household income, etc.? What does that have to do with registering your speakers? NOTHING! Most of the time those cards are not even sent back to the company in question but rather one of the Credit Reporting agencies. Again, these companies sell your profile to other marketers that are looking for speaker buyers who play golf or whatever. More junk mail!
The key here is that not filling out these cards WILL NOT DIMINISH YOUR WARRANTY RIGHTS. You rights remain in tact. In fact, California passed a law a couple of years ago that require companies to state this. When it comes to these cards, it is a good time to be lazy. Don’t fill out those registration cards unless you want junk mail. |
