Mr. Thrifty Principle #2: Get quotes from multiple moving companies

Once you have your moving list, the second step is to get quotes from multiple movers. Usually 3-4 moving quotes will suffice in giving you a range of prices. You can find movers in your area either in your phone book, online at sites, or by asking friends and family.

You will be surprised at the huge variance in the different quotes.  On one of his moves, Mr. Thrifty received moving bids as low as $3,000 and as high as $12,500- All for the same stuff and same distance.  It defiantly pays to get quotes from multiple movers!
